Before You Book

Skin Consultation Required

Skin Needling can be performed on almost anyone however, there may be times when we need to overcome certain contraindications or prepare the skin more adequately to ensure the healing process and results are optimal and efficient.

We want you to get the best results possible. For this reason, we need to do a thorough Skin Consultation so that we can determine if Skin Needling is right for you, and to ensure your skin cells are getting the correct ingredients leading up to your appointment.

It’s important to us that we deliver an outstanding treatment so we want to be thorough.

Results don’t come from injury, they come from healing.

If your skin is in a bad state, barrier impaired, dry, flaky and overall struggling to heal and maintain itself, then Skin Needling probably isn’t going to correct that issue. It simply adds insult to injury!

We are not interested in performing the treatment on you ‘just because we can’. We want to make sure the treatment is right for you and can be performed safely.

We work with you – professionally and sensibly – rebuilding and strengthening your skin to ensure the best possible outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Skin Needling suitable for me?

Although Skin Needling is suitable for most clients, there are many contraindications we need to consider and may need to overcome prior to the treatment being performed.

You must book in for a skin consultation prior to booking in for Skin Needling.

Is deeper, better?

Absolutely not! The depth of injury will depend on what you’re trying to achieve.

We’ve been highly trained and educated to evaluate your skin and work within the parameters required to achieve your desired results.

Does it hurt?

Whilst everyone’s tolerance for pain is different, the simple answer is quite simply no, it doesn’t hurt.

This is not what you might imagine when you read about needles piercing the skin surface at a high speed. But with our high level of training and the precision of the derma CIT pen, it results in your treatments being comfortable and highly effective while pain is kept to a minimum.

Most clients experience around a 5 out of 10. Certain areas you’ll likely feel less, others may be slightly more.

The pain felt can also greatly depend on how well you’ve prepared your skin – including homecare and in-clinic treatments.

How many treatments will I need?

Generally, anywhere from 3-6 treatments will get you great results – but that’s a rough guide only. It will vary from one client to another depending on the skin condition and concern being treated.

Factors such as preparation time and your consistency with pre and post care and follow up treatments will all contribute to the end result.

We will be here to guide you through the entire process.

When will I see results?

Some clients can start to see and feel results after a few weeks. The treatment is cumulative – so each one builds on the success of the previous one.

Pre and post care is vital to the end result.

One of the most exciting things about skin needling is that your results will continue to improve over the next 12 months as the new collagen and elastin settles, strengthens and rejuvenates your skin from within.

Can I book Skin Needling without preparation?

With someone else, potentially. With us, no!

Without adequate consultation and preparation, there is a greater risk of delayed healing, lack of results and quite simply a waste of your time and money.

We have a duty of care to fulfil. Any clinic that is prepared to perform such a treatment so carelessly without correct preparation shouldn’t be performing it at all.

Is a topical anaesthetic/numbing cream applied?

No, topical anaesthetic or numbing cream is not used and we advise against it.

We continually undergo advanced skin needling training that allows us to perform the treatment in a way that eliminates most pain.

Not only can anaesthetic counter the effectiveness of the treatment, but it can have some serious side effects. Anaesthetic toxicity is one issue, but the potential for allergic reactions is perhaps a greater concern.

While the chance of allergic reactions are low, the risks outweigh the rewards.

What areas can be treated?

We can treat most areas including the face, neck, décolletage, hands, stomach, legs and arms.

How does dermaCIT compare to other devices like Dermapen?

The device is only a small part of the process. There are a lot of quality devices out there and all reputable skin clinics will be using one of these. If you come across someone offering skin needling at ridiculously cheap pricing, then something is not right.

A poor quality device may be used, lack of proper training and education and so on. The price is cheap for a reason.

More important then brand name is the person operating the device, their knowledge of the skin, their attention to detail, and the importance they place on your overall health and safety.

We strongly encourage you to forget what brand of device is being used and seek out someone who is actually capable of using the device correctly and safely and specialises in in the area of skincare.
